INTERNAZIONALI D’ITALIA 2013 Riola Sardo.

Si apre la stagione agonistica 2013 per il Team Ricci Racing che ha legato il proprio nome a Tm, e
insieme alla casa pesarese ha intrapreso un progetto ambizioso.
La squadra di Ilario Ricci schiera ben 4 piloti, Shaun Simpson in Mx1, Ivo Monticelli nella Mx2,
Samuele Bernardini che prenderà parte all’Europeo Mx2 e Tomas Ragadini che scenderà in pista
con la 125 2T nell’Europeo che fanno parte del progetto Team Italia della Federazione
Motociclistica Italiana.
La prima uscita in pista coincide con la prima gara di Internazionali d’Italia che per la prima volta
fanno tappa in Sardegna sulla bellissima pista di Riola Sardo, i piloti si presentano a questo primo
appuntamento dopo essersi preparati al meglio per affrontare questa prima gara.

Nella Mx1 Shaun Simpson si è subito trovato a suo agio sulla sabbiosa pista di Riola e nelle prove
cronometrate ha fatto registrare un ottimo quinto tempo, il pilota inglese fin dai primi test svolti si è
detto soddisfatto della sua 450 e i risultati si sono visti subito.
La gara ha visto Simpson protagonista nella prima parte di gara, Shaun è partito subito forte
inserendosi nel gruppo dei primi, e al quarto passaggio transitava in quarta posizione che ha
mantenuto fino a pochi giri dalla fine quando a causa di un piccolo problema tecnico è stato
costretto al ritiro.
La Mx2 ha regalato emozioni al team Ricci Racing, Ivo Monticelli e Samuele Bernardini hanno
subito trovato il feeling giusto con la pesante sabbia sarda e nelle qualifiche hanno fatto segnare
buonissimi tempi, Monticelli ha conquistato il secondo miglior tempo assoluto e Bernardini il
quinto. I due giovanissimi piloti di Ilario Ricci hanno cominciato la loro stagione nei migliori dei
modi.

Al via della gara Bernardini è scattato subito molto bene inserendosi in seconda posizione alle
spalle del battistrada ma purtroppo Samuele è incappato in una caduta che gli ha fatto perdere
alcune posizioni ma che non ha influito sull’andamento della gara. Bernardi con una condotta di
gara molto aggressiva è riuscito a recuperare diverse posizioni e sotto la bandiera a scacchi ha
chiuso in quinta posizione; più sfortunata la manche di Monticelli, Ivo nel corso del primo giro è
caduto a causa di un altro pilota facendolo sprofondare nelle retrovie ma con una serie di buoni giri
è riuscito a recuperare fino alla terza posizione e sembrava poter battagliare con i primi quando ha
perso il controllo della sua Tm 250 cadendo rovinosamente ma senza conseguenze, Ivo ha ripreso la
gara concludendo in un’ottima quarta posizione.
Tomas Ragadini in sella alla 125 2T ha ottenuto un buon decimo posto nelle qualifiche e con due
ottime manche è riuscito ad entrare nella top ten con un incoraggiante nono posto.
Ultima gara in programma della giornata è la più importante la Elite, Mx1 e Mx2 insieme i migliori
venti piloti di ogni categoria.
Simpson è partito subito molto forte e con una condotta di gara tutta all’attacco ha recuperato
diverse posizioni e quando si trovava in settimana posizione è scivolato, il pilota inglese è però
riuscito a recuperare finendo in nona posizione.
Monticelli nella finale è purtroppo caduto nel primo giro, Ivo è però riuscito a chiudere in
quindicesima posizione, ottima manche di Bernardini che ha concluso in dodicesima.
Inizia molto bene questa stagione per il team Ricci Racing, ora solo qualche giorno di pausa e poi di
nuovo in pista per il secondo appuntamento degli Internazionali d’Italia a Malagrotta in provincia di
Roma.

Ilario Ricci:
“In generale sono contento. Nella 125 Tomas non mi dispiaciuto anche se non ha fatto gara eccellente perchè molto nervoso e molto teso.
Per lui era la prima volta che correva con in questa categoria e tutto sommato ci sta il suo nervosismo.
Nella MX2 invece, peccato che Ivo sia caduto nella prima manche mentre era secondo ed aveva fatto pure un’ottima rimonta. Anche nella gara finale è caduto e devo fargli capire di stare tranquillo e ad avere pazienza altrimenti sei veloce ma facile commettere errori.
Bernardini nella prima manche non mi piaciuto tantissimo perchè ha commesso troppi errori a causa della sua irruenza. Su questi terreni a volte è meglio essere meno grintosi e lasciare correre di più la moto. Invece nella Elite ha fatto bene considerato che partiva in mezzo ai 450 alla prima curva era quinto ed alla fine ha chiuso terzo della Mx2.
Nella MX1 abbiamo avuto piccoli problemini con Shuan ma lo sapevano e stiamo lavorando per sistemarli. Abbiamo verificato che era molto rapido e veloce e secondo me poteva stare con i primi quattro / cinque.  Per Malagrotta speriamo di avere tutto a posto per dare a Simpson una moto perfetta.
Ad ogni modo è stata una giornata positiva. Ci sono stati alti e bassi ma sono fiducioso per il futuro.”

Shaun Simpson:
“La prima gara è stato un peccato doversi ritirare per un banale problema ( allentato il tappo radiatore, ndr.) , stavo andando bene mi sentivo a mio agio sulla moto e con un ottimo feeling con la pista. Nella Elite sono partito bene e anche se ho fatto un errore sono riuscito a finire in nona posizione, peccato perchè potevo sicuramente puntare ad un altro risultato, adesso andiamo a Malagrotta e siamo fiduciosi e sappiamo che possiamo portare la Tm nelle prime posizioni.

Ivo Monticelli:
“La prima manche non è andata molto bene, alla prima curva un altro pilota è caduto davanti a me e io non sono riuscito a evitarlo. Mi sono rialzato e sono riuscito a recuperare fino quasi a prendere Charlier sono stato vicino a lui riuscendo anche a passarlo ma in un salto ho perso il tranquillità ed alla fine ho fatto quarto.
Nella Elite sono caduto subito al primo giro. Non ero partito malissimo ma la caduta mi ha fatto scivolare all’ultima posizione. Ho recuperato fino al quindicesimo posto ma se voglio stare con i primi devo sicuramente migliorare le partenze.”

INTERNATIONAL MX ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP – Riola Sardo 2013
The 2013 agonistic season starts for Ricci Racing Team that has set up an ambitious project by
undertaking a new partnership with the Pesaro TM.
Ilario Ricci’s team line up 4 riders: Shaun Simpson in Mx1; Ivo Monticelli in Mx2; Samuele
Bernardini who will take part in the European Mx2 and Tomas Ragadini who will race on his 125
2T in the European Championship, joining the FMI Team Italia’s project.
The team’s first race takes place in Sardinia on the beautiful track of Riola Sardo for the overture of
the International Italian Championship where the riders show their top form after a hard winter
training.
In Mx1, Shaun Simpson is immediately at his ease on the sandy track of Riola and in the qualifyingractices, he gains an excellent 5th place; since first tests the British rider has declared to be really
satisfied with his 450 as soon shown by his performance. Simpson is one of the protagonists in the
first part of the race where he starts very fast joining the leaders and during the fourth lap he gains
the fourth place, keeping it until a few laps from the finish line when he’s forced to stop because of
a little technical problem.
Ricci Racing Team’s Mx2 has been very exciting. Ivo Monticelli and Samuele Bernardini
immediately find the best feeling with the heavy Sardinian sand and in the qualifying practices they
realize great fast laps: Monticelli gains the second best fast lap and Bernardini finishes fifth. Ilario
Ricci’s two young riders start their season in the best possible way.
At the start, Bernardini jumps out of the starting-grid very well gaining the second place behind the
leader; unfortunately, he falls losing some positions without affecting his overall result: thanks to
his pushy driving, Bernardini succeeds in recovering some positions and he finishes fifth. A greater
bad luck affects Monticelli’s moto. During the first lap, Ivo falls down because of another rider and
he succeeds in recovering from the backline to the third place thanks to some very good laps.
However, while fighting with the leaders, he loses the control of his 250 Tm and he crashes without
serious consequences, so he resumes his race gaining a great 4th place.
Tomas Ragadini on his 125 2T gains a good tenth place in the qualifying practices and thanks to
two great races he succeeds entering the top ten with an encouraging ninth place.
The last moto is the most remarkable one, the Elite: the best twenty riders of each class, Mx1 and
Mx2, compete together.
Simpson starts very well and due to an aggressive driving he recovers many positions but, once gained the 7th place, he slips, then recovering until the ninth position. In the final race, unfortunately, Monticelli falls in the first lap, but finally he manages to finish 15th; great race for Bernardini who finishes 12 th

This season has started very well for Ricci Racing Team; now just a few days of break and then back on the track for the second round of the International Italian Championship in Malagrotta, Rome.

Ilario Ricci:
“After all I’m happy. In 12,5 Tomas’ performance hasn’t been excellent because he was really nervous and uptight. It was his first time driving in this class and I can understand his tension. In Mx2, it’s a pity that Ivo fell down in the first moto while he was in second position after a great recovery. He fell even in the final and I want him to be more relaxed and more patient unless you are fast but you make too many mistakes. In the first moto, Bernardini made lots of mistakes because of his impulsiveness. Sometimes, on these kinds of track it’s better to be less aggressive. Instead in the Elite, he raced well since he started among the 450s and at the first bend he was 5th
and he finished 3rd the overall Mx2. In Mx1, we had some problems with Shaun but we are working hard to solve them. We realized he was very fast and to me he could finish with the leading four/ five riders. We hope to be ready for Malagrotta in order to give a perfect bike to Simpson. By the way it has been a good day. Despite highs and lows I’m positive for the future.”

Shaun Simpson:
“It was a pity to be obliged to stop in the first race for a ordinary problem since I was riding well
and I felt at ease on the bike and with the track. In the Elite, I started well and even I made a mistake I managed to finish 9th. I could aim finishing better but now we wait for the round in Malagrotta and we are confident and we know we can bring the Tm in the top positions.”

Ivo Monticelli
“I’m not satisfied with my first race because at the first bend another rider had crashed in front ofe and I couldn’t avoid him. I resumed my race and I recovered up to passing Charlier but on a
jump I lose control and at the end I finishes 4
th
. In the Elite, I fell immediately in the first lap. I
didn’t start so bad but I had to recover from the very backline to the 15
th
place. If I want to ride with
the leaders I surely have to improve my starts.”
