Ciao dall’ Italia! Ho pensato che sarebbe stato meglio fare una dichiarazione in quanto i comunicati girati hanno avuto molto interesse qui in Europa. Io normalmente non faccio questo, ma sento che per la mia reputazione devo mettere le cose in chiaro prima di correre per il Team Giraboldi Honda questo weekend al GP di Maggiora, in Italia.

Il Team Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki mi ha offerto un opportunità per correre in maniera verbale, nessun contratto, per il 2013 nei GP d’Europa. Dopo la guida della loro moto in novembre, ho detto loro che avevo il potenziale e mi sarebbe interessato se potevano costruire una moto in grado di vincere nei GP. Mesi fa il team si è presentato con tutti i dettagli del motore e sospensioni. Il team ha insistito sul fatto che dopo aver testato la loro moto, se non fossi stato felice con sospensioni o il motore, avevano risorse finanziare per farmi portare le mie sospensioni e motori, dicendo “questo non sarebbe un problema”.

Io ero e sono sano al 100% e sono in grado di guidare per due manche da 35 minuti, prima di volare in Olanda per testare e prepararmi per correre il GP di Francia e sono rimasto deluso nello scoprire che il motore da gara non era pronto e provare un motore che era inaccettabile e molto vicino alla produzione. Eravamo d’accordo di non correre il GP di Francia. La settimana seguente il motore da gara era pronto e non vedevo l’ora di vedere che cosa avrei fatto in pista. Sono rimasto deluso con i problemi delle prestazioni e di meccanica che abbiamo affrontato. Il mio meccanico Roel, ha lavorato senza sosta per risolvere tutti i problemi. E dico Grazie per questo a Roel!

Dopo quasi tre settimane in Olanda per testare continuamente, non duravo più di 25 minuti e non c’era nessuna spiegazione di quello che era sbagliato, non sono riuscito a metterli d’accordo per ottenere i miei motori e sospensioni richiesti.

Questo lunedì siamo partiti per il viaggio di 17 ore di macchina verso l’ Italia, ero sconvolto per la situazione, avevo poca fiducia in quanto la squadra non era in grado di fare quello che promisero di fare, per rendere questa una moto competitiva, questo “ora era un problema.”

15 ore di viaggio, ho parlato con il proprietario della squadra e mi ha informato che non aveva intenzione di prendere in considerazione il mio motore, . Gli ho detto che non era un problema e che non mi sentivo fiducioso ma che avrei potuto correre con le loro moto. Poi girarono l’autotrasportatore indietro per l’Olanda e mi hanno fatto scendere in aeroporto, chiudendo così il nostro accordo. Abbastanza sconvolgente.

Mentre ero in aeroporto in Germania da circa 8 ore, cercando di capire in chedirezione stesse andando il resto della mia vita, ho cercato di contattare ogni persona coinvolta nelle gare disponibile in Europa, cercando un passaggio, ma non c’era nulla. A quel punto ho guardato per prenotare un volo verso casa. Ma un buon amico qui in Italia, mi ha convinto ad andare al GP e stringerci la mano prima di ritornare a casa e magari essere sicuro che non ci fosse un’altra opportunità per me. Ho accettato di volare verso Milano.

Mercoledì scorso, Beursfoon Suzuki Rockstar ha rilasciato un comunicato stampa in cui dichiarava: “Abbiamo terminato la nostra collaborazione con Leib” ..,

Ora la parte folle della storia, John il proprietario del team Buersfoon Rockstar Suzuki, ha previsto di citarmi in giudizio ed è qui in Italia chiedendo di pagare dei soldi o si presenterà con un ordine restrittivo bloccandomi la guida. Ha anche comunicato con ogni squadra che potesse raggiungere dicendo loro che sono una persona orribile. Ha anche chiesto a Youthstream di non concedermi di gareggiare.

E ‘un peccato, è semplicemente una questione mia per quello che abbiamo discusso nella prima parte dell’anno. Il loro moto non è competitiva – e non hanno preso le misure necessarie per renderla competitiva. Il livello di prestazioni che ci sarà in gara è molto alto e Buersfoon Rockstar Suzuki sapeva benissimo che l’unica ragione per cui accettai di correre con la loro moto era se era davvero buona.

Mi è stata data l’opportunità di un test all’ultimo minuto con Giriboldi Honda per vedere se c’era una possibile forma d’accordo. Ho incontrato la squadra, ho guidato la loro moto, mi è piaciuta la moto e tutta la squadra. Ho accettato di correre questo fine settimana.

Mentre scrivo questo John del Buersfoon Rockstar Suzuki è qui in pista con il suo avvocato e cerca di impedirmi di correre.

Ma ho appena saputo che la rossa # 80 correrà questo fine settimana. Grazie a Youthstream, AMA, Giraboldi Honda, Josh Pitts, Andrea G. , la famiglia, gli amici e i fan!

Questa è la lettera che ci ha girato Leib e, visto che a noi la parte che ci interessa è solo lo spettacolo e lo sport, la pubblichiamo per conoscenza, auguriamo così a Michael di fare un ottima prestazione e che lo osserveremo nel GP d’Italia!

Hello from Italy! I thought it would be best to make a statement since things have gotten pretty interesting over here in Europe.  I normally would not do this but I feel that my reputation has been on the line and want to set the record straight before racing for Giraboldi Honda this weekend at the G.P. in Maggiore, Italy.

The Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki team offered me a verbal racing offer, no contract, for the 2013 GP’s here in Europe. After riding their bike in November I told them it had potential and I would be interested if they could build a bike capable of winning a GP. Months ago the team was presented with the full details of our motor and suspension package. The team insisted that after testing their bike, if I was not happy with the suspension or the motor they had the financial recourses to let me bring in my own suspension and motors, “this would not be an issue”.

I am 100% healthy and was able to ride 2 – 35 minute motos per day before I flew to Holland to test and prepare to race the French GP and was disappointed to find that the race motor was not ready and rode a close to stock motorcycle that was unacceptable. We agreed not to race the French GP.  The following week the race motor was ready and I was looking forward to what it would do on the track. I was disappointed with the performance and mechanical issues we were faced with.  My mechanic Roel, was working non-stop to correct all of the problems.  Thank you for that Roel!

After almost three weeks of being in Holland and riding sub-par equipment that continually didn’t last more than 25 minutes and no explanation of what was wrong, I was unable to get them to agree to get my motors and suspension here.

On this past Monday we left for the 17 hour drive to Italy, I was unsettled about the situation to say the least, having little confidence since the team would not agree to do what they promised to do, to make this a competitive bike, this “was now an issue.”

15 hours into the trip, I talked to the team owner and he informed me that he was not going to consider even trying my motor, period. I told him that was not our deal and that I did not feel confident that I could race their bikes.  He then turned the hauler around back to Holland and they dropped me off at the airport, thus terminating our agreement. Pretty upsetting.

While I was at the airport in Germany for roughly 8 hours trying to figure out what I was going to do with the rest of my life, I contacted every available race contact in Europe looking for a ride, there was nothing. At that point I looked into booking a flight home.  A good friend here in Italy persuaded me to go the GP and shake hands before heading home to be sure there wasn’t another opportunity for me. I agreed to fly to Milan.

On Wednesday, Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki released a press release stating, “we are immediately terminating our cooperation with Leib”..,

Now for the crazy part, John the team owner at Buersfoon Rockstar Suzuki, plans on suing me and is here in Italy demanding I pay him money or he will file a restraining order blocking me from riding. He has also communicated with every team he could reach telling them what a horrible person I am.  He also demanded Youthstream not grant me an entry to race.

It’s a shame, It’s simply a matter of me standing up for what we discussed earlier in the year. Their bike is not competitive – they did not take the steps necessary to make it competitive. The level of performance that I’ll be racing against is very high and Buersfoon Rockstar Suzuki knew full well that the only reason I agreed to race their bike was if it was really good.

I was given an opportunity to a last minute test with Girabadi Honda to see of there was a possible fit.  I met with the team, I rode their bike, liked the bike and the whole team.  I have agreed to race this weekend.

As I write this John from Buersfoon Rockstar Suzuki is here at the track with his lawyer trying to stop me from racing.
