KTM Racing ha confermato che Red Bull KTM Jeffrey Herlings ha subito una frattura al femore durante un incidente alla Race Charity Everts and Friends a Genk, in Belgio questo Lunedi.
Jeffrey era in competizione in una gara di 85 cc durante l’evento annuale di beneficenza organizzato dal Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team manager MX2 e campione del mondo 10 volte Stefan Everts.
Jeffrey ha subito una frattura composta del femore ed è stato operato dal Dott. Driessen presso l’Ospedale Zol a Genk Lunedi sera. Dr. Driessen ha inserito un perno per fissare la frattura alla gamba sinistra e lo staff medico ha comunicato che l’operazione è completamente riuscita. Si aspettano che lui stia in ospedale per circa tre giorni.
Pit Beirer, capo di KTM Motorsport ha detto che il lavoro di Jeffrey era ora di riposare e recuperare. “Jeffery è giovane e molto in forma e, mentre siamo tutti dispiaciuti che ha avuto questa sfortuna, siamo fiduciosi che egli tornerà e sarà forte come lui ci ha già dimostrato di poter essere. Noi gli auguriamo una pronta guarigione e ci auguriamo di averlo di nuovo sulla moto quando è in forma e starà bene “.
KTM Racing continuerà a riferire i progressi di guarigione di Jeffrey quando le notizie sono disponibili e pertinenti.
Herlings, che è stato eccezionale nella stagione 2014 era praticamente certo di concludere il suo terzo titolo mondiale MX2 al prossimo round a Loket, Repubblica Ceca questo fine settimana. Aveva bisogno di raccogliere solo cinque punti in più rispetto al suo compagno di squadra Jordi Tixier nel prossimo round per assicurarsi il titolo.
L’adolescente olandese ha vinto tutti i GP tranne uno finora tenuto nella stagione 2014, ma non ha partecipato in Brasile a causa di un infortunio alla spalla.

KTM Racing has confirmed that Red Bull KTM factory rider Jeffrey Herlings has sustained a fractured femur during a crash at the Everts and Friends Charity Race in Genk, Belgium on Monday.
Jeffrey was competing in an 85 cc race at the annual charity event hosted by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX2 team manager and 10-time world champion Stefan Everts.
Jeffrey sustained a clean fracture of the femur and was operated on by Dr. Driessen at the Zol Hospital in Genk on Monday evening. Dr. Driessen inserted a pin to secure the fracture in his left leg and the medical staff have advised that the operation was completely successful. They expect him to be in hospital for about three days.
Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsport said Jeffrey’s job was now to rest and recuperate. “Jeffery is young and very fit and while we are all sorry that he has had this bad luck, we’re confident that he will come back and be as strong as he has already shown us he can be. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back on the bike when he is fit and well.”

Herlings, who has been exceptional in the 2014 season was virtually certain to wrap up his third MX2 World title at the next round at Loket, Czech Republic this weekend. He needed to pick up just five more points than his factory teammate Jordi Tixier in the upcoming round to secure the title.
The Dutch teenager has won every GP except one so far held in the 2014 season but did not compete in Brazil because of a shoulder injury.
