ERNEE (Francia), 27 settembre 2015 – Indipendentemente da quale nazione sostenete, l’atmosfera qui al 69° edizione del Monster Energy FIM Motocross delle Nazioni in Ernée avrebbe spostato montagne. La lotta per il titolo è durata fino al traguardo, Team France line up di Gautier Paulin, Marvin Musquin e Romain Febvre hanno difeso la Coppa Chamberlain per la prima volta nella storia del motocross francese al più grande evento di sempre.

Race 1 – MXGP & MX2
Gara uno ha dimostrato proprio tutto quello che il Motocross delle Nazioni è. Team USA con Justin Barcia e il team France con Marvin Musquin hanno avuto un duello epico nella prima metà della gara, hanno tenuto di nuovo la loro battaglia per il comando. Mentre gli intensi fans francesi appoggiavano il francese che sta negli Stati Uniti, che ha perso i contatto dopo un salto nella parte inferiore della pista, “Ero troppo eccitato, la folla stava impazzendo e ho fatto troppi errori e alla fine sono andato giù “, ha detto. Tuttavia, egli si è affrettato e ha perso solo due posizioni.
Nel tempo impiegato a riorganizzarsi, Musquin ha perso le posizioni sul Team Russia Evgeny Bobryshev e del team Germany Max Nagl assumendo la seconda e la terza posizione, guidando incontrastati fino al traguardo.
A un certo punto il pilota MX2 del Team USA Jeremy Martin ha iniziato a chiudere su Musquin per il quarto posto, ma il francese, che ha stabilito un tempo sul giro di 2 secondi più veloce di chiunque altro in pista, è tornato in forza tenendo a bada gli attacchi di Martin che non poteva rispondere alla sfida.
Nel frattempo il Team New Zealand con l’eccellente Ben Townley stava guidando solidamente come uno dei veterani della manifestazione, finendo sesto davanti al campione in carica Gautier Paulin che ha ottenuto una caduta usando troppo il freno anteriore.

RACE 2 – MX2 & Open

Con il Team USA che prende il vantaggio iniziale dopo che Justin Barcia ha ripulito gara uno accoppiato con il quinto di Jeremy Martin, il loro pilota della classe Open Cooper Webb è stato pronto a mantenere l’attacco solido delle stelle e strisce. Webb ha incassato € 1000 del Fox Holeshot dopo aver condotto sulla Gran Bretagna con Dean Wilson e sul team France Romain Febvre alla prima curva. Febvre non ha perso molto tempo a muoversi su Wilson e se ne andò alla caccia di Webb che aveva tirato un piccolo distacco.
Dopo aver passato Wilson, la collina è scoppiata con entusiasmo per il pilota di casa che è andato a sorpassare all’interno Webb per il comando. Ma Webb non lo lascia andare e continuava sulla scia del campione del mondo in carica MXGP, ma durante il tentativo di attacco sulla sua linea nel tentativo di evitare un pilota più lento ha perso il contatto.
La caduta di Webb gli ha fatto perdere la possibilità di contrattaccare Febvre, ma non ha perso posizioni concludendo al secondo posto. Nel frattempo la battaglia per il terzo infuriava tra il Team Belgio Jeremy Van Horebeek e i piloti MX2 Marvin Musquin insieme a Jeremy Martin.
Van Horebeek stava mettendo un ritmo feroce, ma non è riuscito a tenere a bada l’ira del francese che è stato istigato dalla folla patriottica. Musquin, con la sua scelta creativa di linea, mette a segno un passaggio esterno su Van Horebeek prendendo poi un secondo per un terzo posto. Van Horebeek e Martin hanno completato la top five.

RACE 3 – MXGP & OPEN
Con la folla che gridava più forte del suono dei quaranta fuori giri delle 450, il cancello è caduto con il team svedese Filip Bengtsson e il Team New Zealand Ben Townley che sono andati con un testa a testa per girare la prima curva al comando. Chi li insegue era il giovane fenomeno francese Romain Febvre seguito a sua volta dal Team Russia con Evgeny Bobryshev e il Team Belgio Ken De Dycker.
Gli holeshotters di gara 1 e gara 2, del Team USA Justin Barcia e Cooper Webb, sono stati sepolti dalla concorrenza mentre un Febvre affamato stava prendendo buone posizioni nella sua missione per il comando. Riuscì a trascinare fuori Townley in un bar to bar verso una curva e anche se ha fatto un blockpass non è riuscito a scuotere il Kiwi che lo ha inseguito per tutta la gara terminando a pochi secondi dal leader.
Come la gara arriva oltre metà strada, Webb ha schiacciato il tasto del turbo e prese il suo compagno di squadra Barcia che correva in sesta posizione in quel momento. Con le tattiche di squadra che entravano in gioco, Barcia è stato superato da Webb ma il giovane venne ripassato tre giri più tardi, quando mandò in fase di stallo la moto. Sapendo quello che era in gioco, Barcia ha deciso di dare fondo al suo turbo e con una prestazione impressionante passò Paulin e Bobryshev per tornare in terza posizione. Bobryshev ha fatto un altro grande giro per il quarto posto davanti a Paulin, mentre Webb riuscì a riaccendere la moto tempo prima, chiude la terzo ed ultima gara in sesta posizione.

OVERALL
E ‘stato completo e un pandemonio totale, con Febvre a casa per la Francia con un punteggio perfetto nella classe Open, Paulin arrivato quarto assoluto nella classe MXGP che viene combinata con la vittoria finale di Musquin in MX2 ha visto il Team France difendere la Coppa Chamberlain sul terreno di casa per la prima volta nella loro storia.
Team USA è arrivato così vicino eppure così lontano con Barcia che vince la classe MXGP mentre i suoi compagni di squadra Martin e Webb sono arrivati secondi nelle loro classi per la squadra, arrivando secondi a soli due punti sulla Francia. Nel frattempo la Squadra del Belgio ha la meglio di una brutta giornata per il podio in terza posizione.
Ultime notizie, del Team Lettonia Pauls Jonass è stato premiato del premio Ricky Carmichael Award per il giovane pilota più promettente.

ERNEE (France), 27 September 2015 – Regardless of what nation you support, the atmosphere here at the 69thedition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernée could have moved mountains. In an edge of your seat outright brawl to the finish, Team France’s line up of Gautier Paulin, Marvin Musquin and Romain Febvre have defended the Chamberlain Cup for the first time in French motocross history to put a hair raising end on the greatest event ever.
Race One – MXGP & MX2
Race one demonstrated just what the motocross of nations is all about. Team USA’s Justin Barcia and Team France’s Marvin Musquin had an epic duel in the first half of the race as they held nothing back in their battle for the lead. While the intense French fans were backing the US based Frenchman, he threw it away in spectacular style on a jump at the bottom of the track, “I got too excited, the crowd was going crazy and I made too many mistakes and finally I went down” he said. Nevertheless, he was quick to regroup and only lost two positions.
In the time it took Musquin to regroup, Team Russia’s Evgeny Bobryshev and Team Germany’s Max Nagl took over the second and third positions and rode it home unchallenged.
At one point Team USA’s MX2 rider Jeremy Martin started closing in on Musquin for fourth, but as the Frenchman, who set a laptime 2 seconds faster than anyone else on track, returned to full force Martin couldn’t respond to the challenge and let him go.
Meanwhile Team New Zealand’s super spoiler Ben Townley was riding on rails as one of the veterans of the event and came home in sixth ahead of the defending champion and top qualifier Gautier Paulin who binned it when he got a little too trigger happy on the front brake.

RACE 2 – MX2 & Open
With Team USA taking the early lead after Justin Barcia cleaned up in race one which was paired with the fifth of Jeremy Martin, their Open rider Cooper Webb was proper fired up and ready to maintain the solid attack of the stars and stripes. Webb banked the €1000 Fox Holeshot cheque after leading Great Britain’s Dean Wilson and Team France’s Romain Febvre around turn one. Febvre didn’t waste much time in getting around Wilson, who was riding a pretty wide line, and went after Webb who had pulled a slight gap.
After ditching Wilson, the hillside erupted with excitement as the home rider went up the inside of Webb for the lead. Webb didn’t let it go and kept hot on the heels of the reigning MXGP world champion before tipping over while trying to change his line in an attempt to avoid a slower rider.
Webb’s fall took the heat off of Febvre but he didn’t lose a position and still came home for a solid second. Meanwhile the battle for third was raging as Team Belgium’s Jeremy Van Horebeek and the MX2 hotshots Marvin Musquin and Jeremy Martin crept up on Wilson and nudged him back to sixth.
Van Horebeek was setting a fierce pace but couldn’t hold off the wrath of the Frenchman who was egged on by the patriotic crowd. Musquin, with his creative line choice, put a super sweet inside to outside pass on Van Horebeek and pulled a five second gap for a comfortable third. Van Horebeek and Martin rounded out the top five.

RACE 3 – MXGP & OPEN
With the crowd louder than the sound of the forty revved out 450’s, the gates dropped with Team Sweden’s Fillip Bengtsson and Team New Zealand’s Ben Townley going neck and neck around turn one. Chasing them was France’s young phenomenon Romain Febvre followed by Team Russia’s Evgeny Bobryshevand Team Belgium’s Ken De Dycker.
Throwing a spanner in the works, both of the race 1 and race 2 holeshotters, Team USA’s Justin Barcia and Cooper Webb, were buried while a hungry Febvre was taking no prisoners on his mission to the lead. He managed to out-drag Townley in a bar to bar sprint towards turn one and although he made the pass stick he couldn’t shake the Kiwi who chased him home for a mind-blowing second.
As the race ticked over half way Webb hit the turbo button and caught his teammate Barcia who was running sixth at the time. With team tactics coming into play, Barcia pulled over for his hauling teammate Webb but the youngster came undone three turns later when he stalled the bike. Knowing what was at stake, Barcia decided to give his turbo a tap and impressively passed Paulin and Bobryshev to come home in third. Bobryshev put in another great ride for fourth ahead of Paulin while Webb managed to get his bike fired up third kick and came home in sixth.

OVERALL
It was complete and utter pandemonium at the checkers as Febvre bought home for France with a perfect score in the open class. Paulin finished fourth overall in the MXGP class which combined with Musquin’s overall victory in MX2 saw Team France defend the Chamberlain Cup on home soil for the first time in their history.
Team USA came so close yet so far with Barcia winning the MXGP class while his teammates Martin and Webb finished second in their classes for the team to lose by only two points. Meanwhile Team Belgium made the best of a bad day to round off the podium in third.
In other news, Team Latvia’s Pauls Jonass was awarded the Ricky Carmichael award for the most promising young rider.
