PIETRAMURATA (Italy), 11 October 2015 – E ‘stato un fine di stagione epico per la Federazione Italiana e i loro giovani talenti, Ivo Monticelli, Morgan Lesiardo, Emilio Scuteri e Gioele Palance vincono il titolo 2015 Motocross delle Nazioni Europee. 

Nel frattempo, la squadra italiana femminile aggiunto l’hype al pubblico italiano con Kiara Fontanesi eFrancesca Nocera che hanno dominato il Motocross delle Donne delle Nazioni Europee a fare questo fine settimana, sul pittoresco circuito di Pietramurata in Italia, un affare tutto italiano.

It was an epic end to the season for the Italian Federation as their young guns, Ivo Monticelli, Morgan Lesiardo, Emilio Scuteri and Gioele Palance wrapped up the 2015 Motocross of European Nations title.

Meanwhile the female Italian team added to the hype of the Italian crowd as Kiara Fontanesi and Francesca Nocera dominated the Women’s Motocross of European Nations to make this weekend, at the picturesque circuit of Pietramurata in Italy, an all-Italian affair.

Quando i cancelli cadono il francese Alexis Verhaeghe ha preso l’holeshot, ma è stato quasi immediatamente passato del team svedese Alvin Ostlund. Ostlund si occupò della gara, almeno per i primi cinque giri prima di esser sorpassato dal vincitore della manche di qualifica di ieri, in gara per la nazione di casa Italia, Ivo Monticelli. Monticelli è venuto da molto indietro a prendere il comando e una volta preso, non ha guardato indietro. Ostlund scivolò nella scia del local e lo ha inseguito per la seconda posizione. Del team danese Thomas Kjer Olsen è venuto da circa la decima posizione per finire con un terzo incontrastato davanti alla squadra Italia B, ovvero Filippo Zonta e del team Poland Tomasz Wysocki.

Il gran finale, con l’ultima gara della giornata, ha visto la Polonia Tomasz Wysocki scendere e prendere il comando seguito dal caldo francese Alexis Verhaeghe. Verhaeghe e Wysocki erano con un testa a testa sin dalle fasi iniziali della gara, come i primi due della manche di apertura, Ivo Monticelli e Alvin Ostlund che si facevano strada attraverso il gruppo. 

Avvicinandosi a metà gara, Ostlund passa in vantaggio con Monticelli a seguito. Lo svedese, Ostlund è stato costretto a trovare un equilibrio tra attacco e difesa, con la furia italiana, Monticelli, che ha dato il tutto per tutto. Alla fine, Monticelli è riuscito a fare un passaggio strepitoso e porta a casa la sua seconda vittoria della giornata. Ostlund con solo due secondi è secondo assoluto, mentre Wysocki finisce terzo con venti secondi di distacco. Il danese Thomas Kjer Olsen ha recuperato da un altro inizio mediocre per il quarto posto, mentre il francese Verhaeghe ha completato i primi cinque.

When the gates dropped it was the Frenchman Alexis Verhaeghe who took the holeshot but was passed almost immediately by Team Sweden’s Alvin Ostlund. Ostlund took charge of the race at least for the first five laps before he was passed by yesterday’s qualifying heat winner, racing for the home nation Italy, Ivo Monticelli. Monticelli came from miles back to take the lead and once he had it, there was no looking back. Ostlund slipped into the wake of the local and chased him home for second. Team Denmark’s Thomas Kjer Olsen came from around tenth to finish an unchallenged third ahead of the Team Italy B’s Filippo Zontaand Team Poland’s Tomasz Wysocki.

The grand finale, the last race of the day, saw Poland’s Tomasz Wysocki get off to a cracker of a start followed by France’s hot starter Alexis Verhaeghe. Verhaeghe and Wysocki were neck and neck for the initial stages of the race as the top two from the opening moto, Ivo Monticelli and Alvin Ostlund were charging through the pack.

Approaching half way Ostlund took the lead with Monticelli in tow. The Swede, Ostlund was forced to find a balance between attack and defense as the Italian, Monticelli, threw everything at him but the kitchen sink. Eventually, Monticelli managed to make a pass stick and bought it home for his second race win of the day. Ostlund was only two seconds shy in second, while Wysocki finished third a further twenty seconds back. Denmark’s Thomas Kjer Olsen recovered from yet another mediocre start for fourth while the Frenchman Verhaeghe rounded out the top five.

Scatta subito al comando il francese Tom Guyon (FRA-TM) davanti allo svedese Arvid Luning (SWE-Ktm), quindi l’italiano Emilio Scuteri (ITA-Ktm), Anton Nagy (SWE-Ktm), Petr Polak (CZE-Ktm). Dodicesimo passa Mattia Capuzzo (ITA-Husqvarna) davanti a Andrea Bonacorsi (ITA-Ktm) e Gioele Palanca (ITA-TM) costretti a correre in recupero. Nessun problema per il battistrada fino all’11° giro, quando una scivolata lo costringe a cedere il passo al Ceco Polak, che va a vincere due giri più tardi. Seconda piazza per il transalpino Guyon e quarta per Scuteri dopo aver perso una posizione nelle fasi finali a causa di una caduta. Il francese Cantournet, autore del miglior tempo nelle qualifiche del sabato, finisce quinto dopo una bellissima rimonta. Sesto Luning, settimo Bonacorsi in gran rimonta, quindi Mauser, Smith, Stauffer e palanca. Quattordicesimo Capuzzo.

Riscatto del francese Tom Guyon (FRA-TM) nella seconda partenza riservata alla classe 85cc., dove ha risposto con una bellissima affermazione al secondo posto ottenuto nella frazione iniziale dietro al ceco Petr Polak (CZE-Ktm), che stavolta è costretto ad inseguire. E’ iniziata e finita così la gara conclusiva della classe più piccola. Un Guyon determinatissimo non sbaglia al via e si porta al comando mantenendosi in questa posizione per tutta la durata della gara senza offrire possibilità al suo inseguitore Polak, bravo a rimontare dalla settima alla seconda posizione. Terzo finisce Anton Nagy (SWE-Ktm) che era partito secondo, mentre la prima posizione giù dal podio è andata a Emilio Scuteri (ITA-KTM), che ha dovuto rimontare da oltre metà gruppo.

Quinto al traguardo Aleksi Kurvinen (FIN-Ktm) mantenutosi costante, mentre dietro finiscono Rene Hofer (AUT-Ktm) davanti a Gioele Palanca (ITA-Ktm) che è risalito dalla nona posizione del primo giro. A due lunghezze chiude anche Andrea Bonacorsi (ITAb-Ktm) sceso dalla terza posizione dopo il via. Mattia Capuzzo (ITA-Husqvarna) è dodicesimo al traguardo dopo aver perso qualche posizione. 

The flying Frenchman Tom Guyon took an impressive holeshot ahead of Team Sweden’s Arvid Luning and the Italian Emilio Scuteri. Mistakes from both Scuteri and Luning saw them drop a few positions, which allowed another Swede in the form of Anton Nagy up into second. While places were being chucked about as the youngsters went bar to bar, it was Team Czech Republic’s Petr Polak who stole everyone’s thunder when he came from outside of the top ten to take the lead from Guyon with two laps to go. With Polak going on to take the checkers, Guyon was forced to settle for second while Nagy had to be content with third. Scuteri bounced back from a small crash to finish fourth while the poleman from France Pierre Contournet rounded out the top five.

After being passed with two laps to go in the first moto, Team France’s Tom Guyon was not about to let that happen again in the second race. Just as he did in race one, the Frenchman carved everyone up down the straight and this time he checked out for a solid win. Meanwhile the race one winner from the Czech Republic, Petr Polak, had to slice his way through the pack after yet another bad start. The Czech rider passed Sweden’s Anton Nagy on the last lap for second. Nagy finished a solid third although the Italian Emilio Scuteri was in striking distance as they crossed the line. Scuteri was forced to settle for fourth while Finlands Aleksi Kurvinen rounded out the top five.

OVERALL

Al termine di tutte le quattro gare della squadra l’Italia, è stati in grado di difendere la loro corona dagli Svedesi e con il Team Francia a completare i primi tre posti.

At the end of all four races Team Italy were able to defend their crown ahead of the Swedes with Team France rounding out the top three.

Women’s Motocross of European Nations 

Race-1 WMX: Francesca Nocera (ITA-Suzuki) passa subito in testa al giro inaugurale della prima finale Femminile, dietro la seguono la parmense quattro volte iridata Kiara Fontanesi (ITA-Yamaha), l’olandese Nancy Van De Ven (NED-Yamaha), quindi Frida Ostlund (SWE-Honda), Line Dam (DEN-Yamaha). Undicesima transita Floriana Parrini (ITA-Yamaha) e poco più dietro anche Giorgia Montini (ITA-Yamaha).
Determinatissima la parmense quattro volte iridata Fontanesi, si porta ben presto al comando della corsa invertendo le posizioni con la compagna di squadra Nocera, dove rimangono per tutta la gara. Terza posizione per la pur positiva olandese Van De Ven che anticipa sul traguardo la compagna di squadra Britt Van Der Werff (NED-Suzuki), Emilie Dahl (SWE-Yamaha), Ostlund, Lubov Leonteva (RUS-Yamaha), Julie Dalgaard (DEN-Honda), Dam e Lucie Simonova (CZE-Ktm).

RACE-2 WMX: La seconda e ultima manche riservata alle donne si apre con lo spunto dell’olandese Nancy Van De Ven (NED-Yamaha), che precede la vincitrice della frazione inaugurale Kiara Fontanesi (ITA-Yamaha), Julie Dalgaard (DEN-Honda), Francesca Nocera (ITA-Suzuki), Britt Van Der Werff (NED-Suzuki), Ekaterina Guryeva (RUS-Ktm). Decima passa al primo giro Giorgia Montini (ITA-Yamaha) e più dietro Floriana Parrini (ITA-Yamaha).
​La forte pilota olandese resiste tre giri al testa prima di essere superata da Kiara Fontanesi, che va dritta verso la seconda vittoria della giornata. Seconda piazza per Van De Ven e terza per Francesca Nocera in rimonta di una posizione. Seguono l’ordine Dahl, Van Der Werff, Dalgaard, Ostlund, Leonteva, Giorgia Montini e, a due lunghezze, Floriana Parrini.

In race one, representing The Netherlands, Nancy Van De Ven got off to a blistering start with the two speedy Italians Kiara Fontanesi and Francesca Nocera hot on her heels. On the opening lap Fontanesi was quick to pass her teammate Nocera and then made light work of Van De Ven too. With Fontanesi going through on Van De Ven, Nocera also got a foot in the door and made the pass for second. As the top qualifier Fontanesi inched away, Van De Ven threw everything she could at Nocera but in the end had to settle for third. Meanwhile, more than half a lap off of the leaders, Team The Netherlands Britt Van Der Werff was in a brutal battle with Team Sweden’s Emelie Dahl. The two crossed the finish side by side but it was Van Der Werff who was awarded fourth by a hair.

In race two the gates dropped and “ciao”, Team Italy’s own Kiara Fontanesi was gone. As Fontanesi gapped it to win by more than one quarter of a lap, her Italian counterpart Francesca Nocera went head to head with Team The Netherlands Nancy Van De Ven. While it was Nocera who won the battle in the previous race, this time it was Van De Ven who triumphed in the battle for second which forced Nocera back to third. Just as in the opening moto, Sweden’s Emelie Dahl and Holland’s Britt Van Der Werff duked it out, this time Dahl won fourth while Van Der Werff rounded out the top five.

At the end of a good weekend of racing, Team Italy sealed the Women’s Motocross of European Nations crown here in Pietramurata. The Netherlands finished second while Sweden rounded out the top three.
