Chad Reed Set For High Paced MXGP Wild Card Return
American Supercross Champion Chad Reed tornerà in Europa a giugno per due fine settimana di azione nei GP Motocross, attraversando l’America per allinearsi su una Yamaha YZ450F a Matterley Basin nel Regno Unito il 18-19 giugno ed a Mantova in Italia il 25-26 giugno.
“Sono entusiasta di tornare indietro e gareggiare in Europa. Nel corso degli anni sono stato qui per il Motocross delle Nazioni, quindi so cosa aspettarmi, e, naturalmente, guardo i GP ogni settimana per vedere chi sta vincendo. Ma questi ragazzi stanno guidando a pieno gas nel mezzo della loro stagione, e la mia stagione Supercross è appena conclusa a maggio, quindi penso che stiamo andando ad avere un paio di grandi gare insieme nel Regno Unito e l’Italia “, ha detto Reed.
Reed, 34 anni, dispone di 44 AMA Supercross e Motocross vittorie in carriera e due titoli del Campionato Supercross nel 2003 e 2008. Con più titoli interni ed esterni al suo nome, Reed ha recentemente terminato il campionato 2016 Supercross quinto assoluto nella classe 450SX, prendendo 14 top 10. La popolare superstar Motocross ha corso a tempo pieno in Europa nel 2001, dove ha chiuso secondo assoluto dietro a Mickael Pichon nella serie 250cc.
“Molto è cambiato in 15 anni. Quello che prima erano solo tre classi e un formato single-moto è ora di due giorni e cinque classi. Sarà bello tornare e vedere facce vecchie e vecchi amici, ma il ritmo ha intenzione di essere alto e da un punto di vista di corsa sono un ragazzo competitivo e voglio fare bene “, ha detto Reed.
Reed entrerà in entrambi gli eventi MXGP come wild card con il supporto Factory di Yamaha Motor Europe, e fare un giro completo di promozione e sponsor con presenze per i tifosi e dei media a Matterley Basin e Mantova. American Supercross Champion Chad Reed will return to Europe in June for two weekends of MXGP Motocross action, crossing over from America to line up on a Yamaha YZ450F at Matterley Basin in the UK on June 18-19 and at Mantova in Italy on June 25-26.
“I’m excited to come back and race in Europe. Over the years I’ve been here for Motocross of Nations, so I know what to expect, and of course I watch the MXGP rounds every week to see who’s winning. But these guys are riding at full gas in the middle of their season, and my Supercross season just ended in May, so I think we’re going to have a couple of great races together in the UK and Italy,” Reed said.
Reed, 34, has 44 AMA Supercross and Motocross career victories and two Supercross Championship titles in 2003 and 2008. With multiple indoor and outdoor titles to his name, Reed recently finished the 2016 Supercross Championship fifth overall in the 450SX class, taking 14 top 10 finishes. The popular Motocross superstar last raced full-time in Europe in 2001, where he finished second overall to Mickaël Pichon in the 250cc series.
“A lot has changed in 15 years. What used to be just three classes and a single-moto format is now two days and five classes. It’s going to be nice to come back and see old faces and old friends, but the pace is going to be high and from a racing point of view I’m a competitive guy and I want to do well,” Reed said.
Reed will enter both MXGP events as a wild card with factory support from Yamaha Motor Europe, and make a full round of promotional and sponsor appearances for fans and media at Matterley Basin and Mantova.
