Red Bull KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings is known for his tremendous speed in the sand and these skills helped the three-time MX2 world champion control the final race of the day from start to finish. The Dutch rider claimed the lead midway through the first lap around the long circuit and immediately built a sizeable lead over the competition, which included a mix of Europe’s best MX and off-road talent. The final forty-five minutes of the race hour and a half long included a specialized off-road section, which helped Nathan Watson climb up the running order to second place, but there was no chance of catching Herlings. Glenn Coldenhoff, another member of Red Bull KTM’s MXGP squad, claimed third place overall.
