STRIJBOS TO MISS RACES DUE TO ELBOW INJURY
Il pilota del Team MXGP World Suzuki Kevin Strijbos sarà fuori nei prossimi round della stagione MXGP a causa di un infortunio al gomito che ha sostenuto al GP del Trentino. Dopo le consultazioni col Dr Claes e Dr De Schrijver, è stato deciso che Strijbos sarebbe stato sottoposto a interventi chirurgici, con le prime relazioni che suggerivano che l’operazione per riparare il tendine e rimuovere l’infiammazione nel suo gomito è avvenuta con successo.
A Valkenswaard, Strijbos è riuscito solo a fare la metà della prima manche prima che il dolore si trasformasse in forte e dovette uscire fuori pista, il che significava che non poteva adattarsi alla seconda gara.
Il belga deluso ha detto questo sul suo infortunio: “Domenica sera avevo tanta sofferenza, quindi sapevo che dovevamo fare l’operazione. Il dottor De Schrijver che ha operato me, prima ha eseguito l’intervento chirurgico e ha detto che è andato bene. La lacrima è stata fissata e l’infiammazione è stata rimossa. Ora sono in osservazione per una settimana o dieci giorni, per poi rimuoverlo e vedere come il recupero sta andando. Se tutto va bene, sostituirò il tutore con un brace in modo da poter iniziare a fare altre cose con esso. Da allora in poi, dobbiamo vedere come va prima di poter dare una reale stima per la mia prossima gara. Prima dell’operazione, mi hanno dissero che ci volevavo circa quattro settimane prima di iniziare allenamenti con la mountain bike e poi sei settimane prima di tornare in moto, solo se tutto va davvero, davvero bene.
“Preferisco prenderlo settimanalmente però e vedere come sta avanzando, perché non voglio tornare troppo presto e avere il ritorno dell’infiammazione. Ora il piano è riposare e cercare di lasciarlo guarire il più possibile prima del prossimo check-up. Poi avremo un po ‘più di un’idea sul mio periodo di recupero. ”
“Siamo estremamente delusi di perdere Kevin per le prossime gare”, ha dichiarato il direttore generale Stefan Everts, “ma purtroppo le lesioni sono una grande parte del nostro sport. Ovviamente tutti qui lo vogliono il meglio con il suo recupero e che lo vedremo presto nelle gare “.
Ovviamente questo è un grande colpo per Strijbos e il team MXGP World Suzuki, che ora avrà Arminas Jasikonis come unico rappresentante sul RM-Z450WS per i prossimi round.

STRIJBOS TO MISS RACES DUE TO ELBOW INJURY
Suzuki World MXGP rider Kevin Strijbos will be sitting-out the next few rounds of the MXGP season due to an elbow injury that he sustained at the MXGP of Trentino. After consultations with Dr Claes and Dr De Schrijver, it was decided that Strijbos would undergo surgery yesterday morning, with initial reports suggesting that the operation to repair the tear in the tendon and remove the inflammation in his elbow being a success.
At Valkenswaard, Strijbos was only able to complete half of the first moto before the pain became too much and he had to pull off the track, which meant he was then unable to line up for the second race.
The disappointed Belgian had this to say about his injury: “Sunday night I was in so much pain, so I knew we had to do the operation. Dr De Schrijver who has operated on me before performed the surgery and he said it went well. The tear has been fixed and the inflammation removed. Now I am in a cast for a week or 10 days, with the plan then to remove it and see how the recovery is going. If all goes well, I’ll replace the cast with a brace so I can start to do some more things with it. From then on, we have to see how it goes before I can give a real estimate for my next race. Prior to the operation, they said it’d be around four weeks before I can start mountain biking and then six weeks before I can be back riding motocross, only if everything goes really, really well.
“I prefer to take it week by week though and see how it’s progressing because I don’t want to come back too early and have the inflammation return. I’m going to rest-up for now and try to let it heal as much as possible before this next check-up. Then we’ll have a bit more of an idea about my recovery period.”
“We’re extremely disappointed to lose Kevin for these upcoming races” said General Manager Stefan Everts, “but unfortunately injuries are a big part of our sport. Of course everyone here wishes him the best with his recovery and that we’ll see him at the races soon.”
Obviously this is a big blow to Strijbos and to the Suzuki World MXGP team, who will now have Arminas Jasikonis as their sole representative on the RM-Z450WS for the next few rounds.
